Diamond Bank staff jail for defrauding the bank

Diamond Bank plc staff has been jailed for allagedly defrauding the bank of whopping of 111.2million naira. The accused allegedly conspired with his sibling to steal from the bank. According to prosecution counsel Effion Asuquo, Obioha Okengwa committed the offence between April and Agust at a branch in Lagos while he was working in the E-business unit where he handled daily settlement at POS (Point of Sale) and ATM transactions.

The accused credited the account of 5 members of his family using bank customers funds.

The police said the the accused, Okengwu transferred 37million naira and 41.4million naira to two different account owned by Uchenna Okengwa, while he credited Rosamund Okengwu's account with 10 million naira. The accused is also allegedly transferred 13.3 million naira to Bekky Okengwu's account and 9.5million naira to Chukwuemeka Okengwu's account.

 He pleaded not guilty and was sent to Ikoyi prison.

The case will come up again for further hearing in October.
